Once the trenching crew closes a cut, ours is the crew that comes back to top the slab and patch it flat, and we do not hand the floor to the next trade until it reads level under a straightedge. Floor leveling happens before tile, LVP or polished concrete goes down, because a floor finish only looks as good as the substrate under it.
For retail stores and restaurants we polish and seal the slab itself as the finished floor. On renovation jobs we also cut, patch and level the ramps, thresholds and equipment pads inside the space. Before any floor finish goes down, we run a moisture test on the slab, because a floor that fails from moisture underneath it fails long after the crew that installed it is gone.
